Nancy Ma is an actor, filmmaker, writer, and teaching artist from Chinatown New York.
She is currently developing a narrative film & stage play, Sweatshop Melody. Her solo show “Home,” produced by The Latino Theater Company, premiered at The Los Angeles Theater Center, and has been performed at festivals and schools around the country.
She is a 2025-2028 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow. Her work has been supported by, National Arts Club, The New Harmony Project, Fresh Ground Pepper NYC, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, NYFA Women’s Fund, The Museum of Chinese in America and Asian American Arts Alliance.
Nancy is a storytelling facilitator for The Moth and a writing mentor for Young Storytellers. She loves frisbee and is obsessed with Grace Lee and Jimmy Boggs. Obsessed.
A 🎵 musical 🎶 that follows a group of immigrant women working in a Chinatown garment factory. And like most typical Asian American tales, there’s a child who makes the world way messier.
After one of the workers leaves for a better job, it sparks what’s possible for everyone left behind.
